Alabama Board of Cosmetology Continuing Education Requirements:

The State of Alabama requires 16 hours of Continuing Education for the Cosmetologist Instructor, Esthetician Instructor and the Manicurist Instructor within a license cycle. In order to maintain your Masters License in Cosmetology, Manicuring and Esthetician fields, 16 hours of Continuing Education per renewal cycle is also required.

Cosmetologists, Manicurists and Estheticians may complete a Manager License Application to become a Manager provided they have at least one year in a licensed salon under a licensed Manager/Master ( download form).

To upgrade from a Manager status to a Master, sixteen (16) Continuing Educational hours must be obtained within a license cycle. As a Master Cosmetologist you may apprentice a student in cosmetology, manicuring and/or esthetics. A Master Manicurist is eligible to apprentice an apprentice student in manicuring and a Master Esthetician is eligible to apprentice an apprentice student in esthetics.

This 2 day exciting course will cover Aromatherapy, Hot Stone Therapy and Reflexology as it relates to the hair, skin and nails. Day 2 will enlighten all attendees to the history of how Black hair is perceived in America from slavery to the present day. It will no doubt be relevant for generations to come. A special twist will be presented in a hands-on lab involving hair color application and nail art.

North Carolina

North Carolina State Board of Cosmetic Examiners Continuing Education Requirements and Penalties ¹

Starting October 1, 2004, all licensees will be required to complete 8 hours of continuing education, in order to renew their license. Cosmetologists may complete up to 24 hours of CE at any time within the three-year licensing cycle. Estheticians and Manicurists must complete 8 hours per year before October 1st. Teacher licenses will fall back on their original professional license to satisfy CE requirements.

Penalties

Salon Inspections will focus on License Compliance. Individuals practicing with an invalid license could incur a potential $300 Civil Penalty. Make sure that you have fulfilled all Continuing Education Requirements prior to renewal to avoid this penalty.

Texas Cosmetology Commission Continuing Education Continuing Education Requirements and Penalties²

All licensees who renew on or after September 1, 2006 must show the completion of at least 12 hours of Continuing Education requirements to renew their license.

  • These hours MUST include at least four (4) hours of Sanitation instruction.
  • Licensee must obtain a Certificate of Completion for each class completed.
  • A Certificate of Completion will be valid for 18 months from the date of the class and may be used for only one renewal.


Penalties

Practicing or operating a facility with license expired over 30 days.

Civil Penalties:
  • 1st Offense $300
  • 2nd Offense $500
  • 3rd Offense $1000

It is mandatory for each licensee to complete an Education Course on Sanitation. Instead of a lecture, this at home course will allow you the freedom to review your material at your own convenience whether it's at your Home, Salon, or Office.

This course will earn you 6 of your 12 required hours.

Hair Story with a Little Color
It's time to stop being afraid of what you do not feel comfortable with and learn more about it. Statistics show that haircut clients stay with their stylists for an average of two years while clients who receive hair color services stay as long as 8 years.

This is a 6 hour course.

Reflexology and Hot Stone Therapy
This course will allow you to enhance the basic manicure, pedicure, or facial with pressure points (Reflexology) to stimulate the body's natural healing power. Stone Therapy will also be taught to further relax your clients with hot basalt stones and cold marble stones.

This is a 6 hour course.
